18+ Picture of the Day
18+ POTD for 1/26
This is the discussion post for the 18+ POTD for 1/26/2009
This marks the start of daily contests! Thank you everyone for your feedback! Minor changes will continue, but the base system is complete and now on full-automatic!

Crud, small bug preventing entries.
It's seeing new file names as duplicates. Fixing now. All should be well within 15 minutes.
EDIT: Fixed. Apologies. There was a unique constraint on the filename, but the new format means that every contest will re-use file names since it renames the entries to mask who uploaded them. This is me, being a much better coder than a database guy

It shows who uploaded the pic and has results. Did you mean for that to happen?

Unintended - minor logic bug, has now been fixed. Thank you for pointing it out.

Oh neato I just got in...

I see one other thing you may want to work on sometime. If you launch a picture scrolled half way down the page you can scroll up and see the x out button. If you launch a picture without scrolling down any, the picture launches too high to see the x out button
This depends on picture size too. Not all are like that
A few questions come to mind as I entered today's competition:
As site construction progresses & new features are rolled out I'm wondering whether there are plans to allow members to enter the contest with images already displayed within their MI portfolio? When using the library or office computer I won't necessarily always have access to my archived images to compete, whereas if those images are already uploaded for display...
My second question has to do with other competitions. I realize you've JUST got the 18+ contest to the point of being a daily operation, but I'm wondering what your schedule/timeline might be for rolling out other contests might be?
And finally, is there a set of "eligibility" requirements published yet for the current 18+ competition, or are we operating under the previous MM contest rules?
Only 100% recycled electrons were used in the making of this message...
ok....off and running again, so we can use this week's daily's to work on the last of any glitches. Come Feb and the hard launch, might I assume that the image's will display larger in the contests and ports?
Also, might it be a good idea to now code a previous winners gallery with a link on the front page at this juncture? Just a thought....I'm stunned by how fast things have been evolving to the plus side, not a critique! Just brainstorming here....

This was the way it was originally done, and it was changed for a number of reasons. That said, I can now go back and put that functionality back in, but instead of using a link to the portfolio piece, which is how I'd done it, it will COPY the image over as if you uploaded it fresh. That's how "make this my avatar" works. That will avoid the problems that caused me to change it to an upload format in the first place.

I could do it today. Start a thread in site-related and call it "More Contests" and let's discuss.

SLE has handed me rules. I'll get them up today.

Rules added. When you go to the contest page, there's a link below the title. Yes, this will be cleaned up and made nicer.

I don't see this in the rules: Are diptychs/triptychs allowed?

DRAT! I forgot to cover that. It needs to be added to the rules.
The answer is "Yes AS LONG AS said images are clearly part of a set rather than disconnected images."

Thanks I was wondering that too.
Another question
would a model wearing a zentai suit qualify for the contest?
Recommended rules additions:
1. All subjects depicted in entries shall be over the age of 18 at the time the picture was taken. MI reserves the right to require verification of a model's age.
Discussion- although nudes or non-sexual (violent) images of minors may be legal, it would be asking for trouble to post them in an 18+ contest.
2. All subjects depicted in entries must have signed a valid model release allowing such usage. MI reserves the right to require verification of the release terms.
Discussion- since laws vary as to what is allowed, prudence says that only released images should be entered. This does put a burden on others involved such as MUA or rigger, but it also leads into proposed rule #3...
3. Members entering photos must be the copyright holder or have permission from the copyright holder for such usage. MI reserves the right to require verification of said permission.
Discussion- might avoid a few DMCA takedowns, and as long as the model/MUA/rigger has the photographer's permission, verifying a release is easier.
4. Allowable criteria shall (or, shall NOT, depending on how you decide) include depictions of drug use such as needles.
Discussion- illegal drug use is a major social issue and photos depicting (for example) junkies shooting up can be a legitimate social, political, and artistic statement. Any such photos would be considered adult content and treated accordingly.
5. Content involving blatant racism, bestiality, or scatological themes, although adult in nature and legitimate subjects for social commentary, are not allowed.
Discussion- I don't think we need shit pictures, KKK, or animals in the contest. Legal or not. Watersports are iffy as well.

While I agree with the rule and have no problems adding it, requiring age verification on the site's part might cause a legal issue.

Legal grey area, and again I think for the site to police the issue causes the site to lose some protections it would otherwise have.
3. Members entering photos must be the copyright holder or have permission from the copyright holder for such usage. MI reserves the right to require verification of said permission.

See above, and we'd have a hell of a time knowing if a usage license or release was legit.

I hadn't thought of drug use. I'll have to think about it.
5. Content involving blatant racism, bestiality, or scatological themes, although adult in nature and legitimate subjects for social commentary, are not allowed.

Racism/hate speech is already against the rules here in most cases (I'm thinking of the image on another site I've seen of a black man in a KKK robe, for example... that'd be allowed but wouldn't fit this contest). Bestiality, unless I am sorely mistaken, is illegal content (obscenity), and I think the same is true for scat.
I'll check with Chris to see if he feels we need separate rules for those.
I'm reluctant to say no urination pics based on the work of some superb artists like Aeric Gouigon (sp?) who shoot it but I think we'd need to draw a line at people urinating on each other. Again, I'll discuss with Chris.
Thanks for bringing up some good points.

No, not without some other qualifying factor. Without bondage, nudity, or one of the other elements it's just fetish fashion.

I wish there was a delete button. I submitted the wrong image.
ARG!
If anyone can delete an image, please let me know. I would like to submit a different variation of the same image. LOL

Yanki

The coloured image with the woman lying on her back with the flower on top of her.

The short answer on the legal questions - the site has two rules on content:
1. Nothing illegal
2. No penetration
#1 is broad and objective, if you consider "illegal" means in our jurisdiction. So if we get a DMCA takedown, we act accordingly. Other than that, requiring releases and proof means that we take on the burden instead of the poster, where it belongs. Once you start policing some, you have to police all, and liability for such policing begins. This site does not exert editorial control for just that reason.

I accidentally entered an image in the 18+ POtD contest. Nothing wrong with the image, it's just the wrong one and it's not 18+. I wish I could delete my incorrect entry and post a different image. The wrong one is an Asian model, wearing orange lingerie.

You're one of 2 people who accidentally entered the wrong thing, and we have some unqualified entires in the contest.
Chris will be enabling Delete ability shortly so you can delete your own entries & I can delete anything.

Um, James? Is the 15 day rule used in the original competition at brand Double-M going to be applied here on MI as well?
