I would love if someone could give me some advice on how to break into the modeling industry. I haven't even had professional pictures taken yet. Anything would help!

Hi Violethal!

Definitely give the page Emeritus linked a read, just to give you a basic understanding of the mainstream industry.

However, guessing by your name and your styling, you might not neccessarily be looking for mainstream work.

I've experienced across a ton of niches, published, traveling model, so if you give me an idea of the sort of modeling you'd like to do, I can definitely offer advice on how to get started, and the markets your look and comfort level might fit. My home base is NYC so I do know a good bi of the local color in your/my area smile

Either post here of you can send me a private message, whichever works best for you. smile

I love it when I get credit for advice I didn't even give. smile
That said, I think Paige is an excellent reference source for you.  Based on what I see (and you should replace those pictures as soon as possible) mainstream fashion/commercial isn't your most likely outlet, so newmodels.com, despite my fondness for it, will be only partly relevant to you.  Paige can do you better.

Start with professional images. Network on modeling sites, such as this. Practice, practice, practice. Get good, build a great rep, make yourself known. Boom.

This.  Definitely take advantage of the opportunity to work with a mentor like Paige.  She'll probably be a good fit for you.

And here's some advice I've written that may also be helpful...

http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2011/02/ … eferences/ This one's really important, and is something you should do for every photographer and for each shoot. It's super important that you check references instead of relying on an "escort" at a shoot, as that just creates a false sense of security and doesn't really protect you. Here are my thoughts on escorts: http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2009/12/ … -thoughts/

Stuff relating to your first shoot:

http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2008/11/07/first-shoot/
http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2010/02/ … -shooting/

Stuff on starting out:
http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2009/02/23/patience/
http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2010/12/ … ew-models/

What's TF*, choosing edits from shoots and coming up with ideas:

http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2011/06/ … d-choices/
http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/shoot-ideas/

Making sure you're properly prepared:

http://racheljay.wordpress.com/2011/03/ … t-routine/
http://www.examiner.com/modeling-in-chi … ergarments

I know it's a lot of reading, but it's largely worth it to educate yourself before diving in headfirst.
