Top Bad Managers

I've just published my article on bad Internet managers, based on real experiences with a Las Vegas "manager".  Folks who have had to deal with this life form may find it interesting.

But it leads to a question.  I believe this guy is the worst in Las Vegas, but is he the worst currently on the Internet?

-the manager "Ralph" is certainly the worst I've heard of.

-Escort agencies, guns and a Den Mother.....
behind the story is the makings of a seriously riviting movie project.

PS. I am very much enjoying this series of your articles Roger.

You know, that's true . . . and there is yet more to the story to be published.

Very cool articles. I'd heard all sorts of "managers are bad" sorts of things, but I'd never actually seen examples before.

I've always done all my own stuff, and was pretty standoffish about people offering things other than money, food, or images until this summer, when I finally started applying to agencies, and, even then, I sent the contract to about ten different people, including my academic advisor from the theatre department, a friend who recently interned for a NYC agency, and a few others who seemed like they might have insight. That might have been a really lucky distrust, seeing this...

Gwyndolyn, I need to emphasize that those articles really refer only to "internet model managers", which are distinctively different from real agencies and mainstream fashion model managers.

That said, if things like that interest you, I'd urge you to read the articles on Newmodels.com

Oh, I know. This profile is deceptive in that I use it only for a separate pseudonym for work to which a potential employer might object to being linked (my field doesn't care if you do it, as long as it doesn't show up when you google their name). I've worked with a fair number of agency models from real agencies, so I learned how it was supposed to go from practical experience (which is what softened me to the idea of an agency in the first place).

I tried some of the newmodels articles at one point, but they were mostly written for, well, new models, and ended up explaining a large number of things I already new.

In ten years of being involved in this online "cottage industry" I've dealt with two managers who were legit, but only one of them really did well in promoting and getting his models work. I should add neither owned a camera in terms of trying to be photographer.

However I've seen plenty of "photographers" who likely didn't even know what a F/stop is, ruin what in all probability could have been productive net modeling careers for many models. I know of some current gems in OH, MI & KY who still try to be active and fall into that category.

However, I've yet to come across one I had knowledge of actually trying to pimp out models.

So, after reading that article, OMP management had to do something, and they did.  Anyone want to bet on what action OMP took?

Uh, let me guess. I just checked to see if "Ralph's" portfolio is still on the site, which it is as of this morning. Then noting his postings about some  "predatory, sick individual" (you?), I'd venture that they chose to keep him and toss your port so as not to deal with you anymore?

I will also note that he has added to his profile:

"NOTE TO PHOTOGRAPHERS AND MODELS- I HAVE SWITCHED TO (MEMBERS ONLY) BECAUSE MY SUCCESS HAS DRAWN OUT A BOTTOM FEEDER LAS VEGAS NO TALENT MORON AND HE IS MAKING MY LIFE A PAIN FOR SOME PERVERTED REASON WHICH ESCAPES ME AND THE AUTORITIES." (again, you I assume?)

That's often the OMP way of doing things, as there's NO way they're really going to kill model mgrs there, despite their promises to the contrary, as it makes them far too much much money overall. At least not until someone really f*cks up in a major way and OMP is finally called to task for enabling what is, in essence, illegal activities throughout not just Vegas, but most of the country as a whole. They haven't been called on the carpet yet...I guarantee that sooner or later they will, and watch how fast they claim to have had no knowledge of what certain members were doing.

-another in a fine series of articles Roger. Thanks again for the information.

-kudos

-I am thinking that the hiring/representation of illegals in a work force situation would draw law enforcement of some kind. Please keep us apprised of the manager.

I hate suitcase pimps.

It's usually some guy who derives power from having a "stable" of girls that people want to work with, but he wants them all for himself, so he cock blocks.

Cock Blocking: I'm going to block you from being around girls that I want to sleep with, because I'm scared you'll sleep with them either before me or after me, if I get to sleep with them at all.

The fact that they have substantial, verified, evidence about "Ralph's" malfeasance from more than one source, and three weeks later he's still a member in good standing is par for the course. It says far more about the OMP way of handling things than anything David Mondrus might have written counter to this. As noted previously, it's just a "verbal handjob", as opposed to taking action. Maybe I am a cynic, but it's my opinion they are far more concerned with retaining their income stream, and they've done zippo to change that contention.

The fact "Ralph's" actively soliciting for escort services AND has signed 5 more models in the interim since OMP was notified of his actions also speaks volumes of OMP's hypocracy regarding looking out for models and the community at large. It's legendary, and this is just another prime example of such.

hmm
