Have you ever seen the Joe Cocker video for the soundtrack to 9 1.2 weeks, hit song "You Can Leave Your Hat On"?
I would like to see you wearing a hat.

Just a hat... nothing else...
I try to find inspiration in new things. new meaning something i haven't tried yet or something i haven't seen done yet.
always looking at the shot im taking and thinking about what i can do with it. programs such as Corel and Photoshop might be cheating to some but i use them to help show what the inspiration is.

I wouldn't say cheating, personally! They are just used to bring the image to life, as the author/creator intended. In digital photography, it can play a vital role in that process. Personally, I shoot with my specific style of edit in mind - and my images aren't complete until they're done & saved as a 16-bit lossless TIFF! (So sue me...I do prints often! Lol!) For someone to appreciate (or not) your images prpoerly, they must see them in their completed state
This is my humble opinion alone, of course

good answer and thank you for your thoughts on photoshop. I also feel the same way about using it too. had others in the past tell me i didnt do the shot correct if i had to use it. i dont agree with them but its nice to see some one that feels the same as i do.

I think in general people have gotten over the initial flash of the over-processed work that's floating around, and are starting to see that while some processing is done to mask photographic inabilities, some others are an obviously pre-planned effect intended to convey the look and overall presentation the photographer had intended when s/he began creating the image at the time of the capture
There are images I've shot that looked boring on the chimp-screen (as I once read it being referred to as), but once I slightly adjusted the WB & tweaked the lighting while converting it took on a completely different feel and look - as I'd intended when I shot it! Digital & film-photography are two different animals (IMO). Film photographers had their tried-and-true workflows with emulsifiers and so-forth (I'm uneducated in this regard). Us (digital shooters), we have our conversion programs, color gamuts, varying software programs for retouching, varying styles of retouching, and final look of the image when completed. Then if you're like me? You've got a certain size & sheen you print what at and how! (newds matte 9"X12"; Commercial & Fashion 11"X14" lustre)
Different viewers appreciate different levels and styles of digital tweaking - or outright manipulation. Our job is to create images that others appreciate and enjoy, no? At some level, for one reason or another? Lol!
IMHO alone, as always;
