Do you consider yourself: Pro, Semi Pro, Hobbyist, Amateur, Something Else?
Well I just started in January of this year but I've shot a lot already. I'd say I'm an amateur probably. I've learned a lot but I still have tons to learn. When I first started out I was just going to do it for fun, but now I'm actually starting to really get serious about it.
How did you find Model Insider and what do you like best about it?
I was actually told to join by model April Berry, who's been a bit of a mentor, I guess you can say, for me. I joined and at first I wasn't on here that often, but I just recently started becoming more active and it's my favorite model social network. The site is easy on the eyes and easy to navigate. The overall atmosphere is just a lot more inviting than other websites.
What is your usual genre? Favorite genre?
I guess you can say my usual genre is glamour/lingerie. That's what I get the most work for. I do love shooting glamour and lingerie but I'm really fascinated by fashion. I just really love the idea of being more free and creative with my modeling. I'm hoping I might be able to start tapping into that genre a little more within the next year.
How do you find photographers to work with?
The majority of photographers I've worked with have found me on facebook. So facebook has ultimately been my biggest networking tool. I also get connected through other models and photographers.
Do you do your own styling and makeup? Do you work with a preferred MUA?
Usually I do everything myself but as of recently I have worked with MUAs and hair stylists more often. I do have someone I go to if I have a specific idea in mind. Especially when it comes to hair. I can handle my makeup alright but I've always been limited on what I can do with my hair myself haha.
Where do you see yourself going in the next year, artistically and business wise?
Well next year I've already got a shoot in New York City which I'm crazy excited about. This was my first year modeling so I was just working to build my portfolio and get noticed. Now that I've pretty much achieved that I really want to focus more on really pushing the boundaries on my modeling. I want to try new concepts and really see just how far I can take this whole modeling thing :) I also really want to start getting more publications. I've gotten a few this year but I want to start doing more. Magazines, catalogs, calendars, etc.
Do you shoot both in studio and on location and do you have a preference?
I've shot both and I don't really have a preference all the time. In the colder months I do prefer being in studio more often. The biggest downfall to shooting in the studio constantly is you can start to end up with the same images after awhile. That's why I do prefer being on location during the warmer months.
Do you travel?
I've traveled quite a bit this year. Mostly in Illinois but I also did a shoot in Tampa, FL over the summer for a feature in a magazine for a swimsuit line. Also like I said I'll be traveling to NYC in just a few months. I love traveling and am more than happy to do it if traveling expenses are reimbursed :)
