Model Insider Spotlight - Bobbie - MI 6172

How did you get started in modeling? What brought you to it?

I’d have to say that it was my friends Curtis and Lisa Wood that got me in front of the camera. I have always been the family photographer, often showing up at events with multiple cameras. However, this meant that as I look back over the years there were very few pictures of me. I met Curt and Lisa six years ago at Mardi Gras and was thrilled that I could go through his photos and there I was. I was amazed by the beautiful images he captured of Lisa, and then I saw a few he took of me. It was so cool to see artistic photos of myself instead of just portrait or candid photos. I really liked being a part of the art.

Do you consider yourself: Pro, Semi Pro, Hobbyist, Amateur, Something Else?
I would have to say that hobbyist would best describe me. It is something that I do because I find it enjoyable. It is an activity that I can do with just my husband, a single photographer or a group of friends and have a lot of fun with. I have made a lot of improvement over the past couple of years and appreciate the opportunities to expand my experience.

How did you find Model Insider and what do you like best about it?
Again, I have to credit Curtis Wood for my joining Model Insider. He had been on another modeling site and I started to sign up but felt intimidated by my lack of good images and the stiffness of the site. Curt joined ModelInsider and found the community was very supportive and friendly here. He urged me to go ahead and join. So with a few fair images I took the plunge. To my surprise I was greeted with warm messages and even a few nice comments. This really gave me the courage and confidence to do more leading me to discover that you can turn a stick figure into a lot of curves. I continually try to learn and improve what I am doing. I have to say that the people here have been absolutely wonderful and that is what I like best.

What is your usual genre? Favorite genre?
This is pretty easy for me. I am a nudist and I like being naked, so big surprise most of my photos are nudes. Nude art just speaks to me so I find myself doing a lot of location and art nudes but hope to expand in other areas. I love period and costumed shoots a lot as well.

How do you find photographers to work with?
Most of my images are taken by my husband Tom. I have had a few photographers contact me here, buy mostly I have shot with photographers that I know or met through Curt. I seem to get found more than I find. There are many photographers on this site that I would love the chance to shoot with.

Do you do your own styling and makeup? Do you work with a preferred MUA?
So far I have done all my own make-up for photo shoots, usually trying to keep a natural look. My work with MUAs has been limited to film/TV work. I would really enjoy the opportunity to work with MUAs for photos and see what they would create.

Where do you see yourself going in the next year, artistically and business wise?
I expect to continue to expand my portfolio and experience. I’d like to find more new locations and capture some of my visions. I will be working to increase my collection of artistic nudes for possible publication/printing. I want to do bigger and better images and would like to branch into more genres. I welcome the chance to work with more photographers.

Do you shoot both in studio and on location and do you have a preference?
Hmmm. So far, I have really only done location shoots and love it. I am drawn to location shoots and I especially like commando style where you capture nudes in public locations. I would absolutely like to try studio and see what comes out of that though.

Do you travel?
I absolutely do travel. Mostly I travel for pleasure and I never mind mixing work in. Every place I go has the potential for a location shoot these days.

You volunteer with Team Insider to help run MI's picture contests. Why'd you get involved, and what's the value you get from that?
Through my friendship with several Team Insider volunteers, I was asked if I would be willing to help out as a contest curator when the new contests were added. Since I see it as important to play by the rules, and I know that everyone makes mistakes, including me, I was honored to be asked to help in that endeavor. I think it is important that the site members know that there is a responsible team overseeing posts and contests to keep Model Insider a safe, fair and friendly site. It isn't always the easiest task to delete entries, but I am proud to be able to contribute to the overall integrity of the modeling/photography community here.

Anything else you'd like to tell the Model Insiders about yourself?
I actually have a big collection of costumes in a variety of looks collected from attending Mardi Gras, Halloween and Burning Man events. I am also a photographer and can be seen jumping from in front of the camera to behind it from time to time. I do my own photo editing as well and am always trying to improve my results to create beautiful images. I’ve learned to really appreciate the art and will do whatever I can to facilitate a great shot.
